What People are Saying

You will be engrossed in Cole's novels. Readers commonly write, "What interesting characters! They seem so real, they must be people you know." What's their reaction to your characterization of them?

Cole answers, "My characters can't read. They exist only in my mind-now in yours."

For the sake of all others in his school, Dr. harold Martin , the principal, feels compelled to find out why. This is a town where both men and women have wrinkles surgically removed, where yacht owners paint over rust before selling their boats, and where home builders swap techniques for concealing stuctural flaws. Because Hal thinks teen suicide may be avoided by facing the rust, wrinkles and flaws in everyone, he investigates Jason's suicide and uncovers far too much, at great personal expense. Book Reviews

FOR THE SAKE OF ALL OTHERS was a wonderful read. A masterful blend of mystery, suspense and real life drama. It is a rare talent that can present an issue like teenage suicide co-mingled with blatant school administration politics, a torrid love affair and the justifications of a runaway wife. While doing this she brings the reader to Australia and back. Cole's novel takes us from the small town antics of seaside California to the expanse of the Outback and the trip is one of intrigue. Throughout the book she keeps the issue of the teenager's suicide questioned until finally the reason comes forth to shock us. She handles community issues and love affairs as well as John Updike did in his work of the 1960's, but adds a modern twist for the modern reader.

"Just wanted to let you know I've been reading your novel. Reading and reading and reading. It's outstanding. It puts me through every emotion known to mankind. I've been crying and laughing and crying. I can't put the book down." - Janice Stolinovich

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was enthralling and fast moving. The scenery was spectacular and I particularly liked the inner torment as experienced by Hal Martin. I could visualize each character and scene and would recommend this book to any reader of quality fiction. Good on ya Evy Cole
